Rishikesh, Byasi, Uttrakhand, India: Whenever the city becomes too overbearing, which they are always, I grab that opportunity to runaway. Delhi is a place where after 200 kms you can find hills and hills are always my favourite. There is something mystical about the Himalayas as Osho once said "No other mountains in the world are so alive than the Himalayas just because it has been the home of the yogis for centuries".

And one of my favourite place is Byasi which is 36 kilometres up the hill from Rishikesh. It is also a very important station for people who go to Badrinath & Kedarnath pilgrimage. It is approximately 270 kilometres from Delhi via Modinagar, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Rookie, Haridwar and Rishikesh. Haridwar is known for bathing rituals for the hindus as Maa Ganga is considered to be the holiest rivers of all. Rishikesh is now the Yog Capital of the world. In Rishikesh you can find a lot of Westerns enjoying some good time on the banks of Ganga and learning yoga.

But for Gen Next or the Digitaliged Generations who wants a selfie every minute - BYASI is the place to be in. Today, youth working in the Multinationals working round the clock - bearing the stress of success ladder - staying LIVE on the different social networks - they need a BREAK - not just having a kitkat but a true break from the grind. So why Byasi ? It's well connected with roads, railway and airways. The new 8 lane road till haridwar and also a newly under construction Meerut Expressway will provide boost to travel fast and with less hassles. Trains go till Rishikesh from where you can hire a local bus or a taxi till Byasi or Shivpuri. Rishikesh can also boast of an airport connection so youth coming from different parts of India can reach easily.

Mahiraj Singh, a wildlife enthusiast - owner of campsite Majestic, tell us that Youth pack their bags on friday for Rishikesh and leave by Sunday afternoon. Tony Tantra of Bum Lahiri camping takes his group for himalayan walks for 8kms, 6kms and 4 kms each day till till he camps in Byasi. Bum Lahiri camps also take you on expeditions, river rafting, swimming in the Ganga, cycling and a lot of adventure sports.
Mahiraj Singh also creates such an schedule for the youth that they can spend maximum time outdoors enjoying the Himalayas on a budget that also suits their pockets. His camps offer three meals, couple stay in the camp, music at night, bon fire, river rafting and adventure sports like Bungie Jumping.

Ranji & IPL player Vaibhav Rawal is a regular in Byasi. Whenever he takes a break from his very tight playing schedule he is off for two days in Byasi for his favourite river rafting. He is accompanied by a lot of Sports personalities like Ajay Verma, level 3 coach of BCCI and a lot of current Ranji Trophy and IPL players.

Youngsters also enjoy immensely when they reach Byasi. For them the running water of the Ganga, the Mystic Himalayas, the dense forests, the wildlife, the bridges over the Ganga that provides a huge opportunities for Selfies for their social network. And the best part of the whole show is that apart from lodging and fooding all activities in the hills are free. The alkaline water of the Ganga, the Himalayan air, the walks, the swim, the time spent with themselves all are gifts of nature that they can take along when they return and off course good health and freshness too.

Cities don't provide open spaces - cities are miser in providing space to individuals though every other advertisements of apartments or any other platform might offer personal space but in the end neither you have it and off course you pay a higher price to get it. But in Byasi its absolutely free - all you have to do is to gather courage and come. Try for once that LIFE can be so different and has so many other aspects to look into which the cities have blocked .The worst is that the city grinds have blocked our minds and we have lost that golden common sense. Reaching places like Byasi and Shivpuri first of all open the closed mind barriers to open spaces and it let us BREATHE that Himalayan Air that brings a changes in our outlook towards life.

To reach Byasi we need to reach Rishikesh first. Byasi is 36 kms away from Rishikesh and before byasi we can reach Shivpuri. From Shivpuri you can find a lot of camping sites and also a lot of river rafting happening. This ignites and sets the pace for next two days of complete fun and adventure. Rishikesh or Byasi can be reached easily by Biking - super bikers who leave Delhi early morning and throttle their way to Byasi.
Highway Riders - a group of super bikers, wearing their armours and biking shoes riding a 150 BHP beast heads towards the hills on saturday morning - reach by 10 am and start camping at Byasi.
Kartik Nigam the leader of Highway Riders says that "it is always a fun to ride your bike with your gang of brothers to any hill station and especially Byasi because we feel a connect with the himalayas and Maa Ganga". Here riders who have that adventure bone in their bodies opt for para gliding reaching the skies and also go for river rafting to test their blood levels.
